TRAINING SESSION - CLAIMING A RIGHT OF WAY WITH USER EVIDENCE
Saturday 21st May 2022
Hassocks Adastra Hall near railway station and parking 1.30 to 5pm
Do you want to learn how to make an application to add a right of way to the formal map of rights of way? You might want to do this because a path has been blocked and you find out that it is not on the rights of way map, or just because you have discovered that your favourite route is not recorded as a right of way.
WHAT WE WILL COVER
This session covers how to claim on the basis that it has been used for the last 20 years without dispute. (it is also possible to apply to add a route using historical evidence through the Don’t Lose Your Way Group, but we are not covering this).
It will be presented by members of the Sussex area Don’t Lose Your Way group.
You will learn:
- When it is appropriate to apply to add a route to the rights of way map
- How to gather evidence of use of the route
- How to make an application, including the forms you need to use
- How to deal with difficulties.
By the end of the session we hope that you will feel confident make applications in a way that maximises the chances of success.
There will be comprehensive written material for you to keep.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Any Sussex area footpath warden or any other Sussex Ramblers member who deals with footpaths.
REFRESHMENTS
There will be tea and coffee at a mid-afternoon break.
The hall will be open from 12.00 for you to meet people and eat food you have brought with you. There is a supermarket almost opposite the hall for you to buy food.
