Lmited to six people this is a lovely two miles, one hour walk through the "permissive walking" Cowdray Forest. One place left as of 14:00hr 20 April.

TQ306330 is the parking place 200 yards from the junction of B2110 (handcross road) and B2036 (north of Balcombe 250 yards before the Cowdray Arms pub: NOT the layby near Balcombe church)
140 metres of ascent and descent: so a good work out despite the short distance.
The Larch trees are pushing out their new leaves and the differing American species of pines are stunning.
Dotted with occasional veteran natives: oak, beech chestnut and Scots pine, to me this is one of the finest forest walks in Sussex due to the variety and age of the trees.
It will be a week or more before the bluebells are out in this forest but no matter: it is glorious. The picture is from last Saturday.
Assistance dogs only, otherwise NO dogs.
Some steep slopes on dog walking paths and some streams to jump over but no big deal. Walking poles are useful. The forest is dissected by a spring on the eastern boundary, which cuts a progressively steep and deep ghyll as it runs westwards. This walk will stay centrally and easterly in the forest and miss the really fun leaps! Because of the spring line there are some boggy bits even in dry weather.
