30s-50s Newhaven and Berwick Circular - Sunday 31st January 2016 - 11.5 miles

We're heading up to the hills to try and avoid the mud! Mainly dry on the Downs but 'damp' when we descend into Alciston and Berwick so waterproof footwear de rigeur! Several steepish climbs - you have been warned. Lunch at the Cricketers Arms (Berwick) where I have booked a table for 10 - please let me know, pronto, if you want to reserve a seat. If time permits we'll make a pilgrimage to Berwick Church to admire the frescoes by Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell.

Getting there: #12 bus from Churchill Square (stop E) @ 09:25. Arrives Denton Corner lay-by @ 10:07. Walk will start @ 10:15. Parking available on roads nearby.

Return: buses to Brighton @ 01, 15, 31, 45 mins each hour.

Hi Stuart! I am going to join you lovely people on Sunday. If I may, can I book a space for the pub? If there is still one spare of course. No worries if not, I will still come along, maybe huddle in a bush with a cup-a-soup whist you all eat a hot roast dinner...

Let me know. See you then.

Liz

Hi Annastazia, Welcome! For walking I recommend boots (waterproof) and on this occasion gators as it is muddy in parts. See you Sunday.

All 10 seats now taken but shouldn't be a problem at this time of the year to find a place in the pub if you want to eat there.
