This event is to feature the Sussex Border Path walking a significant section between Mile Oak and Varncombe Hill (just beyond Saddlescombe). Preferred travel to the start is by Bus No.1/1A from Old Steine at 9-45 /9-55 am arriving at Mile Oak Road/Graham Avenue Junction on or before 10-30 a.m. The leader will be going via car and will meet people situated in North Brighton at Preston Park Station at 9-45 a.m but car travel is not preferred due to lack of parking at Mile Oak. If you wish to have a lift or can provide transport please ring the leader before the day. The walk follows the Sussex Border Path via Devils Dyke and Lunches at the Hikers Rest in Saddlescombe or Picnic. The afternoon continues on the SBP to Varncombe Hill then by minor footpaths and Monarchs Way back to Mile Oak. The walk is open to any member or non member to celebrate the recent take over of management of the SBP by the Sussex Ramblers. The normal turn out for Saturday Walks is poor but it is hoped that a special effort will be made by members to support this special event.
