Hastings Old Town & BHCC RoW Improvement Plan

Hi Fellow Ramblers!!

I just want to flag up the following, in case you missed them in the latest edition of Sussex Rambler.

VOTE FOR HASTINGS

As you may know, the Ramblers has launched a competition to find Britain’s Best Walking Neighbourhood - and Hastings Old Town is on the final shortlist.  You can find a promotional video and vote here.   It is quick and easy to do, and it would be great if we could all get behind the push for Hastings to win the award, which would bring valuable recognition of the excellent walking we have here in Sussex.

The voting closes on 13th March.

BRIGHTON RIGHTS OF WAY CONSULTATION

And very close to home, Brighton & Hove City Council has recently started to seek views on its Rights of Way Improvement Plan for the next 10 years.  If nothing more, it is definitely worth reading the Summary Plan.  This describes the Council’s vision for access on its ‘patch’, what’s needed to deliver the vision, what it has achieved over the last 10 years, its priorities for the next 10 years and how it will monitor its achievements.

Apart from anything else, the Summary Plan opened my eyes to the terrific opportunities that we have for walking and cycling right on our doorsteps; the important links to, and between, the city’s countryside, parks and open spaces  which are enjoyed by hundreds of people every day.

To see a copy of the Council’s RoW Improvement Plan and, if you wish, to contribute your views on the proposals, please visit:  www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/rightsofway.

The consultation closes on 18th May.

Happy walking!!
