Some sad news was received this morning, via U3A, that John Henshaw, who used to be a regular walker with Ramblers and went on some of the weekends away, died suddenly at home, “on or around 17th June”.
John was no longer a member of Ramblers but his niece Moya has invited anyone who knew him to attend his funeral at the South Chapel, Woodvale Cemetery, Lewes Road, Brighton at 4.30 this coming Friday, 26th July.
John’s niece has requested no flowers but a small collection will…Continue

Please note that it is quite likely that tomorrow's walk will be cancelled due to the adverse weather (heavy rain forecast during the morning). Apart from the wet forecast, the walk is in the Weald and therefore likely to be a bit of a quagmire after all the recent rain!
I will however be at Preston Park Station by 9.30am just to confirm the above.

As per the programme, Thursday's walk will start from the Bax Castle pub near Southwater - see below details for getting there.
From the A24 just north of Buck Barn crossroads, take the first exit signposted Southwater. On entering the village, turn left immediately after the Cock Inn into Church Lane. Continue to a T-junction then turn right into Marlpost Road, and right again into Two Mile Ash Road.
With luck, the weather should have improved by Thursday and I look forward…Continue

As per the programme we are meeting by the Church which is opposite the Black Horse pub in Nuthurst on Thursday. I have spoken to the landlord who has agreed that, if you are going to the pub after the walk, you may park in the pub car park.
I'll see you all on Thursday, Regards, Maggi

This walk will start as planned in Slaugham village however please note that because of the current road works on the A23, the Slaugham exit off the A23 is currently closed and you will therefore need to take the Warninglid exit and follow the signs to Slaugahm.
I've just checked the weather forecast for tomorrow and it looks as though we may manage a day without rain but a word of warning, if it is absolutely pouring down the walk will be cancelled!!
Look forward to seeing…Continue
