Good news: the BAHR annual barbecue has been re-scheduled for Saturday 3 August. It will begin with a walk from Mick T's field at 2.30pm, with the BBQ to follow from 4.30 onwards, and rounded off with a sing-along around the camp fire. Bring your instruments, including your voices. BBQ facilities will be provided; just bring your food and drinks. Tea will be available. This event coincides with the Pride activities, so plan your travel well in advance. There's plenty of parking space at…Continue

Owing to Mick T's indisposition, and logistical problems about access to the field, I'm sorry to say that the BBQ planned for 6 July has been POSTPONED. We will try and rearrange for a date later in the summer. Watch this space. I plan to put on an alternative walk on 6 July. Please check the programme nearer the time for details. Mike

I've just added five photos taken by Janice in and around Church Stretton on our recent group visit there.
As my original route duplicated too much of Graham's recent walk, I've redesigned it, but starting at the same location. The new route (which is already on the on-line programme) will take us through Friston Forest to Exceat, and then back along the SDW over five of the Seven Sisters. It's a moderately strenuous walk, with lots of hills, but with wonderful views of the Cuckmere Valley. Walking poles are recommended. Hope to see you there. Mike

Having received a special deal from HF Holidays for a short walking break at their hotel in Church Stretton, I have reserved rooms there for the three nights beginning 29 March 2019. The basic cost is £165 for full board, plus extras for 'better' (£7.50 per night) or 'best' rooms (£10). All rooms have en-suite facilities. Several BAHR members have already indicated their interest, so we already have a quorum. But there are a few rooms still available. Please let me know asap if you are…Continue

Following the recent enjoyable trip to The Isle of Wight, I have booked rooms for up to 25 people at the HF hotel at Selworthy, North Somerset for the nights of 15,16, and 17 June 2019. Set among 12,500 acres of a NT estate in the Exmoor National Park, Holnicote House has a heated outdoor pool and all the usual HF amenities. I envisage two walks of 8-10 miles on the two full days and two shorter walks on the days of arrival and departure.
The package costs £265 pp on a full board…Continue

The package costs £249 per person, which includes full board and self-guided walks. There is a supplement of £10 per person for non-HF members, plus £10pp per night for premium rooms and £5pp per night for a…Continue

I pre-walked this walk today. Very muddy and squelchy, but if you like the sound of rushing streams, rustic charm, some beautiful Wealden views in an area less visited and a lovely pub for lunch, then you'll enjoy this walk. Only five stiles and no hills - just a few gentle inclines. Walking poles strongly recommended. Hope to see you there. Mike
We have a special walk in Woodingdean this Saturday (30 November) when Lloyd Russell-Moyle, the new MP for Kemptown, will be our guest. Come and join us for a beautiful five mile Downland walk and a chance to chat with our newest local MP. More details in the walks programme.

The weather's set fair, the bluebells are still out, and the mud's gone. So come and join me for a lovely 6.2 mile walk between Bolney and Cuckfield and return this Thursday. It's gently undulating, with some great woodland scenery, and only four stiles. Refreshments afterwards at The Eight Bells. Hope to see you there! Mike
