Reminder: 30s–50s Ashdown Forest, Lintons and Hartfield Circular – Sunday 12th November 2017

This undulating 10½ mile walk will begin at 10.15am from the 'Lintons' car park in the Ashdown Forest, between Wych Cross and Coleman's Hatch. The starting point provides one of the most scenic views northwards over the Ashdown Forest and the Sussex Weald. Along our route the countryside is fairly varied, and the wooded sections always look attractive in Autumn. Reminder: 30s–50s Chelwood and Forest Row Circular – Sunday 4th June 2017

This is an attractive undulating walk of approximately 12½ miles through the wooded north western area of the Ashdown Forest, including the remarkable Chelwood Vachery.

We begin from the 'Churlwood' car park on the A275, Lewes Road, between Chelwood Gate and Wych Cross. Parking there is free, although space is limited, so car sharing is advisable.

30s–50s Alfriston and Seaford Circular – Sunday 9th April 2017

This is a hilly circular walk of approximately 13 miles between Alfriston and Seaford, with a variety of terrains and some excellent views of downland and the coast.  

Lunch will be in Seaford, where there is a choice of cafés, pubs and shops. Our stop is likely to be sometime around 1.30pm and last for about 65 minutes. We will afterwards reassemble outside Tesco Express in Sutton Park Road for the shorter return leg of the walk.

Reminder: 30s–50s Eastbourne Downs, Birling Gap and Willingdon Hill Circular – Sunday 12th February 2017

This 10.5 mile walk is through classic downland scenery, offering some panoramic sea and inland views, especially on a clear day.

Those of you travelling by bus should catch the No. 12 at 9.37am from stop K opposite the Sea Life Centre, or alternatively at 9.30am from stop E at Brighton Churchill Square. Reminder: 30s–50s Frant, Eridge Rocks and Tunbridge Wells Circular – Sunday 4th September 2016

This 11 mile walk begins from the picturesque East Sussex village of Frant, situated in the High Weald. The scenery along the route is very varied and ranges from quiet countryside and woods, to lanes and the bustling Pantiles.

Lunch will be in Tunbridge Wells, where there is a choice of various eateries and pubs, either in the Pantiles or in the nearby High Street. Our stop will probably last for about 75 minutes.

Reminder: 30s–50s Burwash, Brightling and Wood's Corner Circular – Sunday 12th June 2016

Please join me for a scenic walk through the parishes of Brightling, Burwash and Dallington in the Rother District of East Sussex. Varied countryside and woodland, with a chance along the way to spot several of Mad Jack Fuller's Follies which were built in this area. Picnic lunch in Burwash, beside the church, with attractive views in the background. There is also a choice of two pubs, a café and the local store for refreshments or food.

Reminder: 30s–50s West Hoathly, Weir Wood Reservoir and Forest Row Circular – Sunday 10th April 2016

Please join me for a spring walk in an attractive area of the High Weald, with views over Weir Wood Reservoir from various locations. 30s–50s Tide Mills, Alfriston and Greenway Circular – Sunday 28th February 2016

This attractive 11 mile walk over the Downs takes us along several of the slightly lesser travelled paths in the area and features some good viewpoints. Please note that it is a hilly walk with a few relatively steep sections, so be prepared for this as well as the usual mud in various places.

Reminder: 30s-50s Wadhurst, Lamberhurst and Bewl Water Circular – Sunday 6th September

A varied 12½ mile walk through the attractive Wealden landscape on the East Sussex and Kent border. Exploring the path by the northern shore of Bewl Water is a particular highlight. Expect to climb a number of stiles and the odd fence along the way. Care will need to be taken crossing the busy A21 and walking down the lane at the main entrance to the reservoir.
