This walk is 10.5 miles long and takes us through the attractive central and southern areas of the Ashdown Forest. There are some wonderful distant views from the higher ground on a clear day. We will be stopping for lunch in Fairwarp at The Foresters Arms, or bring your own picnic to have on the village green.
All of the pre-reserved places for the pub lunch are taken. However, this could…Continue

I've recently been told that the Franklin Arms at Washington has closed down so unfortunately my walk on the 10/11 will have to be picnic only so let's hope for good weather! But we will be ending the walk at Steyning which has lots of cafes and pubs.
Also, I will need a lift from PP station, it's not usually a problem but it would be reassuring if anyone driving could offer me a lift in advance, my number is 07745458567. Thanks Jill

Greetings all! For the hardy of you the walk tomorrow is a circular walk from West Hoathly via Minepit Wood, Turners Hill and Gravetye Manor. In the morning we walk near the Bluebell Railway via Minepit Wood and Crawley Down to Turners Hill for a picnic lunch. There are two pubs at Turners Hill for those who would like a pub lunch. In the afternoon we walk via the grounds of Gravetye Manor with fine views and hopefully some beautiful colours in the trees.
Hope to see you…

This promises to be a lovely walk with autumn colours in plenty of mixed woodland. But, I'm not happy with one of the paths on the original route, consequently I have amended it so we have a long morning and a short afternoon reducing the total length to 8 miles (12.8 Km). The new route takes in all the main highlights of the area, passing through Little Bognor, Flexham Park, Bedham, Lithergate Common and Fittleworth Common, to the Swan Inn, then a loop over Hesworth Common, taking in 2…Continue
