I hope you will join me on this Thursday's walk. We will go to Hollingbury Hill Fort, through access land, into Wild Park, Bursted and Hollingbury Woods. As there are a couple of steep gradients I have made the walk quite short, 5 miles. There aren't any stiles. Do get in touch with me in advance if you have any questions otherwise I will see you at the start - car park opposite Woodbourne Garage.

This Saturday promises to be the best day this week for weather. So why not join me for a walk in Friston Forest. I can promise a beautiful undulating forest walk, which also takes in the pretty villages of Littlington and Westdean. Full details in the programme. Don't forget to bring a picnic lunch.
There has been some further developments with the Xmas festivities. It seems there is a significant demand for an Xmas Party in the vein of the ones I organised at Pelham House and The Star Inn at Alfriston in recent years and the Grand Hotel 5 years ago. Many people want to get their Widow Twankey and Buttons costumes out and parade their stuff in front of an adoring public once again ...Alright, get the glad rags out and have an Xmas Ball!

Just a note to say I'm going to take over Charles's Birling Gap-Beachy Head walk on Sunday 30th September. I'm leading a 6 mile circular walk for Crowded Pier (www.crowdedpier.co.uk) to Charleston for the 'Going Global' event in the Small Wonder Short Story festival on that Sunday anyway, so I'll make it a joint CP/BAHR walk again. The walk is the reverse of the 20s-40s walk Nick led recently for BAHR around…Continue
Our National Trails are under threat and we need your help.
The Government is planning to drastically change the way National Trails – including the iconic Pennine Way – are looked after.
The Government wants to wash its hands of National Trails and hand responsibility for them to hard-pressed local authorities and volunteer groups.
These plans are bad news for…Continue

A circular 10 mile 20/40’s walk around Bramber and Steyning. 300m ascent. Pub lunch in Steyning (at the Star or meet us back there after your choice or a picnic)
Meet at The Level at 10 (please bring a car if you have one) or at the car park at Bramber Castle at 10.30 (Car park right next to the castle just off the roundabout, NOT car park in the village - Contact leader if going to start).
See you Sunday!
My good friend, Nick Malyon, has once again come to my aid by pointing out that the walk I'm not able to lead is in fact the Beachy Head walk linear from Burling Gap not Rottingdean as I mistakenly advised in yesterday's announcement.
Apologies again for this.

Just a reminder to say that there is now a free membership option on Crowded Pier for people who don't mind a little advertising. I organise many socials which are joint Crowded Pier/BAHR events and will continue to do so in the future; however there are many more social events on www.crowdedpier.co.uk as well, please feel free to check them out. :-)

Sadly I shan't be able to lead next Sunday's walk to Rottingdean via Elm Grove and Woodingdean due to unforeseen circumstances.
It is a very straightforward walk which can be a full or half day affair if some kind person would like to fill in for me.

David Coutinho will be leading this walk (as usual!). However, I won't be able to come along due to injury. It's a really special, wonderful walk but it does mean that you will need to travel by car to the start unless you live in Lewes. I try to ensure that people without their own transport can do the walk, so if:-
- you are a car driver and can take a passenger(s), please get in touch with me and let me know where you could pick up and your…Continue

A circular walk from Wilmington this week with views of the Long Man and a pub lunch in Jevington. Meet at the level at 10am or at start point – Wilmington Priory, Long Man car park at about 10:45.
The forecast is warm and sunny so don’t forget your sunscreen!
Please bring cars. If going straight to the start point let me know.
This Thursday the walk will start at the Royal Oak pub, Newick and not at the church, as there is only enough parking for 3 or 4 cars in the lane leading to the church. It is easier to park near the Royal Oak where Church Road becomes wider. Grid reference TQ419212. We shall be walking along Church Road at the start.
If problems with parking, please ring me on the day tel 07879832480.
There is an overgrown section of the path which is prickly, so shorts are not…Continue
