South Coast Mighty Hike 7 July

A couple of people have asked me to share this - 5 BAHR ramblers are doing the South Coast Mighty Hike on 7 July to support Macmillan. We'll be hardy ramblers at the start and a bit useless at the end as it is 26 miles from Brighton Racecourse to Eastbourne, with the Seven Sisters kicking in at about 18 miles! One thing's for sure; we'll start as a team and finish as a team. If you would like to sponsor any of us, please click on the individual page for team mates who have further to…

Beautiful Saturday walk 19 May. West Sussex Literary Trail and South Downs Way

Pre-walked this last week. Fab walk. Stunning and varied scenery. The Sportsman Pub is open again in Amberley so that's where we will lunch. Not much mud but boots are essential as there is a short marshy stretch.   I will be going straight to the start but hopefully some of you will head to Preston Park first to pick up those without transport. We meet at 10.30 at Kithurst Hill car park which is on your left as you travel from Storrington towards Amberley. Not well signposted and easy to…

5 Churches and A Castle - Steyning to Shoreham 12th May

Things have dried out nicely during the hot weather,so hopefully not to slippy this time. There are shady churches to sit in (briefly) though we wont stop anywhere more than about 5 minutes (except the pub at the end). Because we finish relatively early we will probably just have a picnic snack stop at Coombes or Botolphs. Hungry bunnies can get a fuller meal at the end of the walk if needed. Drivers may wish to use the 2 bus to return to their cars if left in Steyning , or park in Shoreham…

This Thursday's Ashdown Forest Walk

Wren's Warren car park on the B2026 is quite small.  If full, I suggest the Piglets car park back down the road and then walk onto the heath, where there is a wide path up to the start point.

The walk has a number of ups and downs, 4 stiles, one short muddy section, and is 6 miles, taking about 3 hours.

Tomorrow's Wisborough Green Walk (5th Ma

I've just been checking out some of this walk and it's nearly perfect with the dappled sunlight through the trees, bluebells and other wild flowers, tree blossom and lunch by the canal. There aren't many stiles and no big hills, but the one down side is there are a number of patches of wet sloshy mud. It's well worth coming along but I would recommend stout boots, gaiters and walking poles.

Request for Walk Leaders for the next 30s-50s Walks Programme - July to October 2018

Dear BAHR members,

The next programme runs from July to October, covering the 18 Sundays and 7 Wednesday evenings listed below. With a total of 43 walks planned for the next programme, in order to fully complete this I need help from both new and previous leaders to share a favourite walk or explore a new walk in an area that interests you. Walks can be led individually or jointly, by anyone who is a paid-up member of the Ramblers.

No special…
