Next Joint Walk with Healthwalks: Monday 2 May

Looking for something to do on Bank Holiday Monday?  Then come and join us for the next joint walk with Healthwalks.  It's a five mile circular walk around Shoreham, taking in the river Adur, the beach and the Old Fort.  We leave from the front of the Shoreham Centre at 10.30.  Parking at the Centre is free, or take bus nos. 2 or 700, or the train (Shoreham by Sea station is just two minutes walk away).  Remember it will be Sunday service.  Look forward to seeing you there.

Anyone interested in giving their views on the EU Referendum to BBC Radio Sussex?

We've been approached by BBC Radio Sussex who are seeking four volunteers to take part, whilst on a walk, in a series of four discussion programmes leading up to the EU Referendum.  The four walks, lasting between one and two hours, will take place on Friday 27 May and 3,10, and 17 June.  They're looking for somebody who will definitely vote out, somebody who will definitely vote remain, and two who have not yet made up their minds, but who are leaning in each direction respectively.  The…

30s-50s Bevendean and Tenantry Down Circular - The Lost Paths - Sunday 24th April 2016

7.5 mile walk at 10.15am. A chance to head off the beaten path to explore some surprisingly beautiful tracks and valleys around Brighton's eastern suburbs. We visit the racecourse and enjoy the views from Tenantry Down before visiting Bevendean Woods. Refreshment stop collecting a tea and a snack from Falmer farm shop. We return via a new shared path. 30s-50s Slaugham and Bolney Circular - Sunday 24th April 2016

I hope you can join me on an attractive 11 mile circular walk at the western end of the High Weald. We will be walking in countryside surrounding the villages of Slaugham, Warninglid and Bolney and crossing through the grounds of Wykehurst Park. Nice views. Woodingdean Circular - Sunday 17th April 2016

A gentle morning stroll in the sunshine across the downs above Woodingdean and down in the valley. Plenty of free parking. A quick water/coffee stop en route.  10.30 start. 30s-50s Southease to Brighton via Kingston - Sunday 17th April 2016

An 11.5 mile linear walk starting from Southease, dropping down to the café at Lewes Garden Centre (near Kingston) for lunch or picnic. Afterwards, a moderate accent and along to Brighton, past the racecourse. 

Meet at Brighton Station for the 09:47am train to Southease (Seaford). Scheduled to arrive at 10:10am. Meet leader in front of the coffee booth in the middle of the concourse.

30s-50s Lewes to Eastbourne - Linear walk on Sunday 10th April 2016

This is a 19.5 mile linear walk from Lewes to Eastbourne, make sure you buy a return to Eastbourne, if you are doing the whole walk.

If you are coming on the train from Brighton it is recomended that you catch the 9:40, this gets in to Lewes at 9:51, we will be leaving at 10:00 sharp, as we have have a long way to walk, before we get to Alfriston, for a picnic lunch, or a quick pub stop.

There is a bus that leaves Alfriston at 51 minutes past the hour to take you to Seaford ,…

Reminder: 30s–50s West Hoathly, Weir Wood Reservoir and Forest Row Circular – Sunday 10th April 2016

Please join me for a spring walk in an attractive area of the High Weald, with views over Weir Wood Reservoir from various locations. Along the route we will be passing Lower Lake in the Gravetye Estate, crossing the Bluebell steam Railway line several times, visiting Stone Farm Rocks and following a section of the Sussex Border Path.

REMINDER: First Healthwalks/Ramblers walk this Monday

The first joint walk between B&H Ramblers and Healthwalks takes place next Monday, starting at 10.30 from the Roedean Cafe on the seafront.  It's a four-and-a-half mile circular, with some climbing, but offering wonderful views over the marina and Ovingdean.  Come and join us!  Mike Bates
