Some sad news was received this morning, via U3A, that John Henshaw, who used to be a regular walker with Ramblers and went on some of the weekends away, died suddenly at home, “on or around 17th June”.
John was no longer a member of Ramblers but his niece Moya has invited anyone who knew him to attend his funeral at the South Chapel, Woodvale Cemetery, Lewes Road, Brighton at 4.30 this coming Friday, 26th July.

The car park is St Marys Church car park.Thakeham Village. As you come down into Thakeham village the road bends round to the left, where there are some parking spaces. Go past these space towards the Church and the car park is on the left adjacent to the church .

Just promoting my 9 mile circular walk this Saturday - starting at Beeding Hill and stopping off at the Sussex Wildlife Trust's Woods Mill reserve for a lunchtime picnic. The National Trust Car Park at Beeding Hill is accessed from the Upper Shoreham Road in Shoreham (near the Red Lion/Amsterdam pubs) following the signed road to Mill Hill. Good news: the BAHR annual barbecue has been re-scheduled for Saturday 3 August. It will begin with a walk from Mick T's field at 2.30pm, with the BBQ to follow from 4.30 onwards, and rounded off with a sing-along around the camp fire. I will meet you when I board the bus 11.05am Surrenden Road stop. We will walk from Ditchling Beacon to my field in Spatham Lane Ditchling via Westmeston. Bring a packed lunch. Just to advise the lane leading to the car park has deep pot holes therefore I suggest the following.
From the Washington roundabout take the A 283 for 0.7 mls At the sign for Sullington turn Right down Hampers Lane for 0.4 mls, then turn right on to sanctuary lane. After 0.2 mls turn right at the T junction Georges lane, follow for 0.15 mls car park on left.
