Slight change of plan for lunch tomorrow! The Juggs is fully booked indoors so lunch will either be outside at the Juggs or we can go on to the garden centre cafe , an extra mile down the road. Alternatively, there is an area for picnic lunch if you bring sandwiches.

This attractive 11 mile walk over the Downs takes us along several of the slightly lesser travelled paths in the area and features some good viewpoints. Please note that it is a hilly walk with a few relatively steep sections, so be prepared for this as well as the usual mud in various places.
Lunch is in picturesque Alfriston and our stop will probably last for around 75 minutes. You can either bring a picnic to have on the benches next to the village green or there is a choice of…Continue
This walk starts and finishes in Bramber and we will go to the Castle Inn for lunch. They have asked if we could pre order on the morning as much as possible to speed things up, for us as well as them. They have a website (below)with sample menus to give you an idea but there will also be specials available. Weather is currently dry, bright and cold which is good but there will be some mud which isn't. See you there. Jill …Continue

Hi folks! It’s fair to say the weather has been middling to rubbish lately but I hope you can join me on Sunday for a circular 10.5 mile walk on the Downs from Patcham to Pyecombe via Chattri, Lower Standean, North Bottom and Ditchling Beacon. I walked it out Monday and there were lovely views and no bad mud (bad mud!) until after lunch. Which is my way of saying that after lunch you need to have sturdy boots and a stoic smile and be prepared that I may reroute the post lunch section if I…Continue
Come and join this lovely walk. If you have not done this walk before, there are some nice views from the top of the Downs, some fairly steep hills, but we do have a rest at the top of the hills.
With lunch in Alfriston and there are lots of eating options in the village and after lunch we have a steep climb up on to the South Downs Way, the weather forecast should be dry for Sunday, but it might be a bit cold.
Thanks Big Neil

I have looked at the weather forecast for tomorrow, Saturday, and the winds during the walk period range from 49 to 54 miles per hour with gusts of up to 60 mph hour. So in the interests of safety, I am cancelling this walk. Jean
