Go for a walk rather than shopping or doing the housework! I did the pre-walk last Sunday and the going underfoot was nice and dry so expecting the same on Saturday. Some glorious views over the Downs from the old Lewes race course, Blackcap and Mount Harry. Forecast is reasonable but there could be the odd shower so come prepared. Drink and/or lunch in The Swan which is a Harveys pub for those who care about such things! Hope to see you there.

Looking forward to see you on the walk on Sunday.
The route starts from Findon Valley, circumnavigating Cissbury Ring, before heading across the downs to Chanctonbury Ring for panoramic views and on to Washington for a pub lunch. The route then follows sections of the South Downs Way and the Monarchs Way, past Findon Church and Findon Place.
There will be mud and steep sections so please bring sturdy boots and poles if you need…Continue

As Geoff James has 'retired' from organising the long weekends away, I have made provisional reservations for up to 25 places (9 single rooms and 8 doubles/twin) at Freshwater Bay House, an HF Holidays hotel on the Isle of Wight for the three nights of Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 May. The package costs £249 per person, which includes full board and self-guided walks. There is a supplement of £10 per person for non-HF members, plus £10pp per night for premium rooms and £5pp per night for a…Continue

Apologies- another change! This walk will now run as a car walk starting from Preston Park station at 9:30 to avoid replacement buses and to shorten the journey times. Thanks to all drivers offering lifts to help with car shares.
We will now start the walk at 10:30 from the layby in Bradley Lane, left off the A24, first exit at first roundabout leaving Dorking, signed "Vineyard." Grid ref TQ170509 RH4 1PF.
This walk will still call in at Polesden Lacey for tea and snacks via…Continue
I pre-walked this walk today. Very muddy and squelchy, but if you like the sound of rushing streams, rustic charm, some beautiful Wealden views in an area less visited and a lovely pub for lunch, then you'll enjoy this walk. Only five stiles and no hills - just a few gentle inclines. Walking poles strongly recommended. Hope to see you there. Mike
Dear BAHR members,
Happy new year to you all! I hope that you have enjoyed the festive season and have managed some walking as well as eating and drinking.
As you may know, I have recently taken over from Stuart and Colin as the 30s-50s Walks Programme Coordinator. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Stuart and Colin for their excellent work in putting together the programme over the last year. Also thanks to Chris for his work…Continue
I pre walked the Ashington walk today and much of it is underwater. With more rain promised this week it’s not a sensible option so I’m changing to a Shoreham to Lancing walk commencing from the Ropetackle entrance at 10.15 am. Sorry for the late notice.
