As we are now into the holiday booking season, I thought it might be worth reminding BAHR members that our Group is now part of the The Walking Partnership with Ramblers Worldwide Holidays (RWH). Under this scheme, whenever any BAHR member books a holiday with RWH, our Group receives “cashback” as follows:

Brighton and Hove Ramblers will be having a stand at the Lewes Hike and Bike festival on May 30th. Two of our programmed walks will be linked to the festival and we hope to interest new members of all ages. Nearer the time, I will put out a plea for members to help man the stand for an hour or so. Watch this space!

Hi all, my walk has been shortened (due to rain and slippery paths) to 5 miles in woodland and fields around Cuckfield. Optional lunch at The Talbot or tea in a choice of three tea rooms at the end of walk. I will meet everyone at Whitemans Green for a 10.45 start and hope car drivers will be at The Level at 10.00 to bring anyone who needs a lift. Looking forward to walking and seeing everyone again after three months out.
Classic walk from Hassocks Railway Station. 8 miles. Includes Jack & Jill Windmills, Ditchling Beacon and lunch in Ditchling (pubs, cafes, or picnic). Much of the walk is before lunch so consider a mid-morning snack. We avoid the most muddy areas but it will be muddy in places (decent boots necessary). If strong winds or much rain we will keep to the Underhill Lane for a slightly shorter walk. Consider car shares via the website. Leader is going straight to Hassocks Railway Station for…Continue

A kind Rambler has informed me that the famous Blue Bird Café in Ferring is currently closed.
The lunch stop will now be at The Sea Lane Café on the seafront in Goring which is about 6 miles from the start of the walk. sealanecafe.co.uk
As the East Beach Café is also closed, my intended stop at the end of the walk, we will now complete the walk at the top of Sea Lane Littlehampton to catch the 700 bus back towards Brighton. This will shorten the walk to about 12…Continue

Those who know me, know i do go to the Lakes several times a year.
This year I am going from Sunday 17th to Thursday 21 May ( travel on 17th and 21st ).
Happy to offer walks to anyone who wishes to come along. I will lead walks on mon, tues, wed and thurs before departing. Depending on who else comes along, I hope to be able to offer two walks on two days, so that I can offer two peaks to those inclined, if the weather is suitable.

This walk is a late addition to the programme. It should reward us with some great views from the top of the Downs on the outward section. Our return route will be along the easy lower tracks and paths. The total ascent amounts to 1100 feet and nearly three quarters of this is in the steepish section near the beginning.
Please bring cars to The Level at 9.45am if you are driving from Brighton, as there will probably be people there requiring lifts, and we don’t want anyone left…
