This is a 4 mile circular walk designed for new walkers or the not so fit it is easy paced flat walk starting at 2-30 p.m with a local meeting point at Preston Park Station at 2-00 p.m. I have been told that there is a definite need for short walks but to date there has been little support. Therefore this is the testing time either use it or lose it.

They chose this walk. Although the weather was very blustery we had no rain only mud. They fully engaged in the walk and asked me to thank you all for being such a friendly and interesting group and to tell you how much they enjoyed walking with you. thank…Continue

All aboard the Nutbourne Express this Saturday. Train departing Brighton 9:04 ! I pre walked our route on New Years Day and there was a distinct lack of mud! Don't be put off by the distance because this walk has very gentle ascents, not too many stiles and generally good surfaces. You may wish to bring sandwiches or check out the menu at the Barley Mow Walderton before so we can pre-order any food to avoid delays at the bar!

Please join us for a hilly circular walk from East Dean, via Beachy Head and Eastbourne Seafront, returning inland over the Downs. It is one of our favourite downland walks in East Sussex, with wonderful views along the coast and over Eastbourne on a clear day. The route is scenically varied and includes a few short sections of the South Downs Way and Wealdway.
Lunch will be in the Carlisle Road area of Eastbourne or by the Wish Tower overlooking the promenade and the sea. There are…Continue

Dear BAHR members,
The next programme runs from March to June, covering the Sundays and Wednesday evenings listed below. With a total of 43 walks planned for the next programme, in order to fully complete this I need help from both new and previous leaders to share a favourite walk or explore a new walk in an area that interests you. Walks can be led individually or jointly, by anyone who is a paid-up member of the Ramblers.
No special training…Continue

It looks like we will enjoy a break from the rain on Thursday with some welcome sunshine, but who knows. Having walked the route on Sunday after a day of rain, the ground was starting to turn muddy with a few standing puddles. To try and avoid slippery slopes I have decided to reverse the walk which means a couple of steep inclines around the third quarter of the route, but you will enjoy a downhill finish. Hiking poles are recommended.
As the Frankland Arms, Washington is now closed…Continue

I have double checked train times for this fabulous walk and look forward to meeting you at Brighton station for the 8:58 train. Drivers get a lie in (meet us at 10:28), but no beer afterwards. Please text if you are coming by car in case the trains are delayed!
Poles and gaiters optional! Quite a lot is sandy rather than muddy! But there is a waterfall!
